About Us

Mary Jo & David Bammel own and manage Villainous Grounds.

Transfered and transplanted to Perryville in early 2014, we both fell in love with the area.  Upon realizing working for others wasn't really working for us, we decided to put down permanent roots and work for ourselves.  Originally intending to open only a comic book store, we worried that the area may not be able to support us.  With a SEVERE lack of gourmet coffee in town, we figured it would be the perfect combination.

Running the shop is a family affair.  Mary Jo's daughter Morgan is a barista and her older daughter Madeleine and her mother Bea also help out.  Our other employee Paige might as well be one of ours - people often confuse her for one of our own so we will claim her too!

Oh, we can't forget our youngest crew member, Baby Groot!  He joined us in the fall of 2017 and likes to hang out on the stairs.

Creating our shop has been a wonderful experience and we can't imagine a better place to be than in Perryville!

Another thing we've noticed about our friends and neighbors here in Perryville is their generosity.  We partnered with Heroes for Kids for our grand opening to raise funds for a local charity - The Hope Center.  The response was wonderful and we will continue to work with both organizations in the future!  We had a chance to visit the Hope Center and will be going back to volunteer some time whenever we can.

KBSI Fox 23 in Cape hosted an interview with us October 2016.
